Join us for an engaging conversation with Kay Ionataiewas Olan, local Mohawk Storyteller and educator, and Dr. Siobhan Hart, anthropology faculty member at 91°µÍø, as they explore the local Indigenous history that shapes our shared sense of place today. This discussion will illuminate the deep connections between land, history, and community, why creating a land acknowledgement is an important step in honoring those connections, and how we can move from acknowledgment towards meaningful action. Rooted in our new Strategic Plan’s commitment to Our Interconnectedness to Our Past and Present, this program invites both our campus community and local community partners to reflect on our collective responsibility to learn, remember, and act. The event will conclude with a call to action for participants who wish to join in the ongoing work toward developing a meaningful land acknowledgement for our community.

Special thanks to MDOCS and the Anthropology Department.
